La Salle Athletics Honors Five with Hall of Fame Induction

The La Salle Athletic Department announced the 2018 Hall of Fame class: Marty Bare '82, Brian Heidorn '86, Mick Cronin '90, Justin Orr '04, and Chandler Burden '08.

Marty Bare '82 is being honored for his achievements in Swimming and Diving. During his Lancer career he earned numerous diving achievements including 4-time GCL Champion, Sectional Runner Up, Sectional Champion, 4-time District Finalist, and placing 7th place in the State Diving Championships in 1982. He earned an Athletic Scholarship in Diving to the University of Maryland where he finished in the top five all four years in the ACC in both the 1 meter and 3 meter boards.

Brian Heidorn '86 is being honored for his achievements in coaching Football and Wrestling at La Salle. At Hanover College, he was a two year starter with the Football team advancing to the National Playoffs his senior year. After college, Brian returned to La Salle as a teacher and coach. He has been an Assistant Football Coach since 1990 including 3 years with the State Championship teams in 2014, 15, and 16. He also coached Wrestling for 5 years. As a coach and educator at La Salle, he has earned numerous recognitions for his work and commitment to students. Awards include Brother James Daniel Memorial Award; OHSAA Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity Award; Anthony Munoz Foundation Most Influential Teacher; La Salle Alumni Service Award; De La Salle Service Award and the La Salle Signum Fidei Award.

Mick Cronin '90 is being honored for his achievements in Basketball both as a high school player and collegiate coach. As a Lancer, he was voted All City in 1990. He led the city in assists and second in the city in 3-point shooting percentage. Mick then continued his career at the collegiate level in coaching as an Assistant Coach for the University of Cincinnati and University of Louisville programs consistently earning conference recognition and NCAA berths. In 2003 he was offered the Head Coach position at Murray State and earned OVC Coach of the Year in 2006. That same year he returned to his home roots by taking the Head Coach position at the University of Cincinnati. He has been with the Bearcats for 13 seasons earning NCAA berths every year for the last 8 seasons. He earned AAC Coach of the Year in 2014 and Sporting News National Coach of the Year in 2018.

Justin Orr' 04 is being honored for his achievements in Basketball. Recognitions during his time as a Lancer include 3-time All GCL, 2-time All City, 2-time All Metro, and an All State in 2004. He was selected to the East-West All Star tem in 2004 where he led his team in scoring and rebounds. He led the Lancers to #1 rankings in the city and state. He accepted an Athletic Scholarship in Basketball with Murray State University.

Chandler Burden '08 is being honored for his achievements in Football and Track & Field. During his high school career, he received multiple recognitions for his accomplishments in Track & Field including 3-time CGL Shot Put Champion, 2-time GCL Discus Champion, Shot Put District Champion, 2-time Discus District Champion, Regional Champion in Shot Put and Discus, and State Champion in both Shot Put and Discus. For college, he decided to continue his career by attending the University of Kentucky with an Athletic Scholarship in Football. He was a 4-year letterman at UK. He proceeded to continue his career at the professional levels with one year with the Miami Dolphins and one year with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Hall of Fame ceremony is part of the Sport Stag events on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. The Hall of Fame inductees will receive their awards during a private recognition ceremony prior to the Sports Stag.
